Thoughts on Thursday - Christmas Edition

Morning friends! It's going to be a bitter cold one here today, were in the negative and some schools have shut down because of the weather. I haven't heard if our schools are closed yet, but I'm hoping they're not. I'm suppose to volunteer in Ella's class today and we we're going to bake food for next weeks holiday show, I really don't want to miss that!

Anyway, here's some thoughts that are on my mind lately and they just all happen to be Christmas related

If I never hear the song "Frosty the Snowman" again, I'll be just fine. Miss A is obsessed with it and seriously demands it every time we are in the car, and once I play it, she demands it again, and then repeat. If I don't put it on she cries and yells and well even the Frosty song is better than listening to that

I took Brayden out of school 1 hour early yesterday so we could go see Santa (so happy I did too because even going early & having an appt, it was a long wait) - I had to laugh because earlier in the week I told him I was calling him out that hour and saying he had an appt, so the other night he told me and Rick how he told his teacher he was leaving early on Wednesday because he had an appt, then he paused and said, to see Santa. We were dying! At least my child doesn't lie :)

Speaking of Santa, I saw 2 moms on Facebook this week say how their 5 & 6 year olds don't believe anymore and that they had the talk with them. Umm 5 & 6!?!?! If my 6 year old said he doesn't believe then you bet your bum I will be telling him he's wrong. I am really hoping to make it to age 8 or 9 with my kiddos. I can't stand everything happening earlier and earlier these days.

Ella is at the perfect age right now for Christmas and I'm loving every minute of it. Brayden has never been our overly excited kid for anything, but Ella, that girl shows enthusiasm like I've never seen and I freaking love it. Every day she wakes up so excited to check for our elf, so excited to eat her advent chocolate, so excited for Christmas (which she thinks happens every time it snows), so excited to see Santa, and the list goes on. She literally jumps up and down and screeches with excitement. I cannot wait for Christmas morning with her!

Have a great Thursday, we are going to try and stay warm!

  1. Oh my gosh, I toooootally agree with the whole Santa thing. I would straight up tell Henry he's wrong, as well! In fact, I plan to NEVER have "the talk." When growing up, my mom always said, "If you don't believe, you don't get anything." There were four of us kids all three years apart and never once did I hear anyone talking about "the real deal." It blows my mind that some parents are telling their five and six year olds! All I have to say is, they best being staying quiet and not ruining it for our little ones! Okay. Rant over! Stay warm girl! It's freeeeeezing!!!

  2. Christmas time is sooooo exciting through a child's eyes! This is Wells' (2.5 yrs) first year to really grasp what's going on, and it is so fun to watch!

  3. This made me laugh because my son also thinks it's Christmas every time it snows...even if it's just somewhere on TV..."look Mom it's Christmas there!!" How funny that Brayden told his teacher he had an appointment to see Santa! Kids!

  5. First off your Santa pic was priceless and I loved it! How cute that he told his teach about his appointment. At least you know you have an honest little guy. It is sad that things happen sooner and sooner these days and it seems like childhood just isn't the same innocents it used to be. Let them believe for as long as they can. The hard part with that is when those other 5 and 6 year olds go around telling their friends he isn't real. Hope you get to bake with Ella's class today! Beautifully Candid

  6. Oh my goodness, that is so sad that some of the 5 and 6 year olds don't believe in Santa anymore! What is this world coming to?? I think I believed until I was like 10!

  7. My girls want me to sing Itsy Bitsy Spider over and over. So a lot like Frosty. Ugh. After three times, I am over it. Ha. I can't believe a 5 and 6 year old are not believing in Santa anymore. That breaks my heart. My cousin said her daughter (who is 9) told her son (who is 4) that there was no Santa, that it was mom and dad. I am so sad for them over that. Kids.

  8. I hope you get a break from Frosty! ;)
One of my close friends was seriously debating telling her 5 and 7 year old about Santa. That's WAY too early. Lexie just found out a few weeks ago and she's going to be 10 in February. That's young enough in my opinion!
Hope you have a great weekend!
