Father's Day Gift Ideas

Happy Friday!!

Father's Day is around the corner and I'm still not sure what we're doing for my hubby! He is a great Dad and I always love to give him something handmade from the kids and something small from me.

Here's a roundup of some fun DIY gift idea's!

{ONE}

This is one that yours truly put together last year and I think it's the hubby's favorite handmade gift to date! He keeps it on his desk and fills it with his favorite candy.

I wish my hubby was into scratch tickets like I was, because I would so do this! (hint hint hubby, next Mother's Day maybe???)

weekend {re} cap - fathers day edition

Well that weekend went quick! We didn't do too much but spent lots of family time together which is always the best!

Friday night, Brayden & I had a sleepover downstairs in our family room by the "big tv" as he says. We had planned it all week because he had been asking.  We went to Walgreens earlier in the week to pick out candy for our sleepover and definitely overindulged! We ate too much candy, I had some wine, and we passed out 15 minutes into his movie choice - Planes. The hubby joked the next day how lame we were, LOL

Saturday we didn't do much.  I had clean out the fridge on my to do list and finally tackled it.  I won't even share how long it's been since I've done that.... It took me over an hour but the entire fridge is sparkling clean now and it makes me so happy when I open it.

The weather was suppose to be gorgeous so we had always planned to go swimming in the afternoon, but that gorgeous weather never showed up! Nonetheless, we still took the kids because they wanted to go.  Thank goodness the pool was heated because it was not nice out!

Fathers Day morning we did presents and had a light breakfast because we knew we were going to eat so much food later on at my in laws.

Best attempt at a family picture :)

The hubby loved everything the kids made him! And they were so excited to help him open

Later that morning we sent Brayden & Ella outside to play because they were starting to get way too wild inside and we had things we needed to get done.  I love when I look out and they are playing so nice!

The rest of the day/night was spent at my in laws.  The hubby made his famous ribs and there was so much other delicious food.  We could barely move after eating :)

The kids enjoyed the hot tub since their pool isn't ready yet...don't worry, the hot tub is really turned a lukewarm tub for the kiddos.

Water table fun!

Cousins!!

This boy - he jumps in front of the phone every time I try to take a selfie with Ella Bella!

We weren't sure what happened because she was literally happy .5 seconds before this. We started walking in the garage and she started crying and turned back around down our driveway and just sat on the ground.  Girls...yikes!

The night ended with baths, stories and cuddles and the hubby and I enjoying ice cream watching some new shows...that we both fell asleep watching less than half way in. Ahhh such is the life of tired parents!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Fathers Day crafting

I thought I'd share our Father's Day crafts we made this year. The kids get SO excited to make things and even more excited when it's for someone.

We first started making a picture frame caddy with a trophy on top. I figured this would be nice to have on his desk at work

I got this inspiration from one of the many emails I received from Michaels.

To make this you will need:

That's it, so easy! Brayden & Ella painted the entire thing themselves, I did give a little direction here and there when I saw lots of unpainted sections, but they did it all themselves and they were so proud!

I knew I wanted to take pictures of the kids with the letters D, A & D so we headed outside one day to do that...of course this was no easy feat, I think I had to promise 20 suckers to Ella and she still didn't smile! After taking the pictures I kept thinking how am I going to get them small enough for the openings, 3" x 3". I was toying with getting 4 x 6's then cutting but was worried they wouldn't look right.  After searching the internet I found Foxgram and they could print my pictures in 3 x 3 for a small cost.  I decided to order from them and was so happy when they showed up 4 days after ordering!

Look how cute these little prints are!

Here's how the trophy picture case looks all completed.  We're going to fill the inside with his favorite candy. I hope the hubby loves it! I sure do!

The kids each wanted to make a card as well, Ella did this....

and Brayden did this

I think everything turned out awesome!! I love making fun stuff with my kiddos and love even more that they enjoy it too!

Father's Day 2013

I'm finally getting around to re-capping Father's Day.  It was a nice day and I know it means alot to my hubby because he absolutely cherishes being a Father.  This year was super fun with gifts, I was kind of getting out of control with the "handmade" gifts but it's hard to pick just 1...or even 2....

The day started off by letting Daddy sleep in (sleeping in around here is 8:30am) I made a yummy breakfast and we all ate together and then Brayden gave Daddy all of his gifts.

Here are some pics of what the kids made for their Daddy :)

I was pretty excited to make this DAD frame - I've seen it all over Pinterest and think it's a super cute idea. (It was beyond painful to get them to take these pictures but at least no one is crying...in these ones at least)

This interview with Brayden was so fun, these are genuinely his answers to the questions, quite comical.  I plan to do this every year.  I think Brayden will get a kick out of these when he is older :)

Another Pinterest find - I thought this turned out really cute.

Later in the day we went by my in-laws to spend time with my Father in Law.  It was a nice, hot day so we spent it outside, playing and grilling.  It was a nice Father's Day :)
