Life Lately

Summer is still in full swing over here and I think our weather may have finally gotten the memo!

We are loving the warm weather and I am enjoying {almost} every moment with my kiddos :)

The hubs and I took Brayden to see Jurassic World a couple weeks ago - he was obsessing over the other  Jurassic Parks and we felt he was OK to see it. He kept leaning over to me and asking, "Mom, are you scared? I'm not" he he, I think he was a tad scared, but me, yep, I was full blown scared. But the movie was soooo good

In the morning, Avery is always the first one up so after I feed her we head back to her room and Brayden is usually awake and he asks us to come in. Then he always says he wants Avery to lay with him. These moments are so sweet!

I had lots of one on one time with my gal while Brayden was at camp and Avery napped. We both enjoyed it :)

We went to our local pool one weeknight thinking it was a good idea, only to get there and have the sun that was shining bright, hide behind the clouds and the water was freezing.  These 3 got in and me and Miss A watched :)

We made chalk paint the other day and the kids had so much fun with it!!

My sister in laws and I met at Children's Museum with all the kiddos and it was a blast! Such fun stuff for kids. We could have stayed there all day, easily.

I only wish she ate half the stuff she was stocking her cart with :)

These two crack me up. My nephew Sam was literally pushing Avery in this wagon, it was hilarious!

We've been back to the zoo with some friends

These 2 had their first official Daddy Daughter date the other week - he took her to see Inside Out. This was Ella's 2nd attempt at the movies and she did a little better than before, but still, all she cares about is her popcorn :)

This boy loves getting a snow cone at the pool

We've been playing shooting games, it's always them vs me and they always win :)

Lots of time has been spent outside in our makeshift pool since bringing these 3 to the pool by myself is much harder than I anticipated!

Brayden went to a Ready for Kindergarten class the other day at the library. Here he is waiting in line to go in the room, he looks SO big to me.

While Brayden was in his class, us girls hung out and Miss A was loving that she could move all around now and get into everything her sister was playing with :)

We walked to the frozen yogurt place after the library - we love going here!

Not the most flattering picture of me, but I always sit here with Avery before her naps or bed and she just nestles into my arms/shoulder. Brayden snapped a pic of us this day :)

I took this big guy to the dr last week for his 5 year check up, he did SO good! He engaged with the dr and the staff so much for pretty much the first time ever!

My sister in law got married last weekend and Ella and my 2 nieces were the flower girls...they were so cute getting ready!

Me and my girl!!

Riding on the trolley with my pretty flower girl

The 3 beauties!!

The gorgeous bride and all the girls

Ella was crying on and off all morning and I was so worried she would not walk down the isle. She surprised the heck out of me and walked down smiling the whole time!

The hubs drove Ella to the reception hoping she would nap and Brayden (the ring bear) wanted to go on the trolley since he hadn't been... he was all about it for about 5 minutes..

Then he fell asleep sitting up next to my niece, who also looks thrilled to be there :)

This picture pretty much sums up Ella...we get to the bridal suite at the reception and they bring out cheese and crackers and this girl went to town eating almost the entire platter!!

The other day we found a caterpillar hanging out on our house. He then made his way to our front stoop. The kids fell in love with him and would talk to him so sweetly.

They thought he would like some food just like the very hungry caterpillar... so slices of pepperoni it was

I got the hubs to go to Ikea with me and get a new bedframe - this is huge because he hates Ikea but he was a good sport

The kids were so excited because the caterpillar left for a while then he came back.  They said he probably left for the day to go to work, LOL

I took this kids back to the library this week for a magic show. It was pretty entertaining and Brayden was LOVING it.....

this girl, not so much! She started having a meltdown during the show and we were asked to leave. Who gets kicked out of a magic show? This girl does.

Hanging with Mr. Caterpillar again. He was leaving and the kids were getting so sad. They became so attached to this little guy.

Well that's about it! We have been having a great summer so far and I'm so happy there's still so much more left!

This dinner has become one of our favorites! It's so easy to make and so so delicious!

Easy Chicken Enchilada Casserole – 4 ingredients is all it takes to make this popular Mexican dish. It’s cheesy, it’s spicy, it’s sinfully delicious.

I'm loving this closet for our kiddos! I hope one of these days the hubby gets some free time to do something like this

DIY gold glitter headband

I've been wanting to make a glittered gold headband for my little gal for a while.  I've made some headbands before but not exactly like this one and my girl Lindsay (who blogs over at Lindsays Sweet World) hooked me up with the details on how she made her little girls adorable headband - see it here along with the other amazing details she did for her daughters 1st birthday.

So I headed to Hobby Lobby for my materials. - here is a super easy way to make a super cute headband!

You will need:
  • gold piece of felt
  • elastic band (found by the sewing section)
  • felt
  • glue gun
  • 1" hole punch (not required - you could trace and cut out your own circles)

Step 1: Measure how long you will need the headband to be. Cut it to fit and gather your materials.

Step 2: Punch out plenty of circles. (Thank goodness for the hole punch though, made it so easy and quick! My type of project)

Step 3: Once all of your circles are cut out you should cut some felt pieces smaller than your circles, these are going to be attached on the back of the circles to help prevent hot glue pieces from hurting your little ones head.

Step 4: Start gluing the circles right next to eachother on the band.

Step 5: Flip it over and hot glue the felt pieces to the circles' backs

Step 6: Hot glue the ends together of the elastic band.

That's it...however, once I put it on Avery's head, I realized the band stretched so much that there were gaps in between the circles where you could see the white band.  Not that big of a deal but I knew I wanted it to not look like that.

So off again I repeated all of the steps above again, except this time, when it came to gluing the circles I made sure to overlap them a little bit, that way when she wore it, there were no gaps seen.

Here is my little model showing off her new accessory. I LOVE how it turned out :)

I can't handle her cuteness!!

The possibilities of making these headbands are endless! I'm going to take full advantage of making her many more, while she'll still wear them :)
