Friday Favorites {7.29.16}

Wohooo for Friday!!

Today's the hubby's birthday, so Happy Birthday Babe!! 34 is going to be a great year :)

I thought it would be fun to dedicate today's post to 5 things I love about my guy, sorry for all the mushiness you are about to experience :)

{ONE}

He's my best friend.

It's such a great feeling doing life with someone who truly is my best friend.  When I have news, he is the first person I want to tell. He is the person I always want to hang out with and I love that we are so comfortable around each other.

{TWO}

He's a guys guy

My husband would NEVER fall into the "metrosexual" category, like ever (not saying there is anything wrong with that, it's just not him).  He doesn't take more time to get ready than me and he could care less about labels. He is a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy and I love that! His idea of a good time is grabbing some beer and wings and I couldn't think of anything better than that :)

{THREE}

He's handy

Like super handy.  Not only can he fix things around the house, but I can look up any project on Pinterest or wherever and he can make it. I am so lucky to have married someone like this because I'm always wanting to DIY something and I always need help, ha ha!

{FOUR}

He's the best Father

Seriously, he is. He is so patient with our kids and I admire that so much! He is the type of Dad to get on the ground and play with our kids and I know they will always remember that.  I love that I get to see him be a boy Dad and a girl Dad and he excels at both.

{FIVE}

He still makes my heart go pitter patter.

After *almost* 8 years of marriage, 14 years total of being together, I am still so in love with him! I look at him sometimes and think just how lucky I am.  We have built a beautiful life together and I wouldn't want anyone else but him by my side.

I can't wait to celebrate with my guy later tonight!

Ok, ok, that's enough cheesiness for one day. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

What's Up Wednesday

Hey hey!  I'm linking up with Shay , Mel and Sheaffer today for this months What's Up Wednesday

What we're eating this week:

With such nice weather, we have been grilling out which I love! Also I made these sloppy joes with biscuits which are a family fave!

What I'm reminiscing about:

My youngest will be 2 next week!! I feel like I blinked and this happened, but also it feels like she's been with us forever.  Funny how that works, isn't it?

What I'm loving:

I'm loving my new relaxed tee's from Nordstrom - I need like every color of these

Also these booties are on the way to me and I really hope I love them in person! For under $33 you can't beat that price! Especially since they are much more from other stores.

What we've been up to:

You can see what we're up to if you read any of my weekly recaps, but pretty much pool, splash pads, library time, crafting and just enjoying summer!

What I'm dreading:

Is it bad to say my youngest turning 2??? I am of course happy to see her growing and thriving but I'm pretty sure she is our last so these moments are hard for me!

What I'm working on:

Getting us ready for our annual vacation with the hubby's side! I cannot wait to check out for a while.

What I'm excited about:

See above!!

What I'm watching/reading:

Watching//Bachelorette, Baby Daddy and of course all the Datelines

Reading//I am still trying to finish The Castaways...maybe I can finish on vacation

What I'm listening to:

The kids are watching Bolt during their quiet time so that's about all I hear at the moment

What I'm wearing:

It's been hot here lately so living in my swimsuit or shorts and a tank. Nothing special!

What I'm doing this weekend:

Celebrating my hubby's birthday on Friday and a family friend wedding on Saturday! Should be a great weekend!

What I'm looking forward to next month:

Celebrating my girls' birthdays! Since Ella & Avery don't really have any friends yet, we decided to combine their birthdays and have 1 family party.  Less stress and they obviously won't care.  It's ice cream themed but it will be simple, and I'm excited for it!

What else is new:

Is it sad when this question pops up month after month that really nothing is new?? I'm taking it as a good thing, LOL

Bonus Question:

What was your favorite part of summer?

Hmm I loved our South Haven, MI vacation and I know I'll love our upcoming vacation too, and just hanging with my kids everyday has been the best!! I love summer so much more now that I'm home with them.

Tis the Season

No no no, I'm not talking about Christmas in July today {although I totally could...has anyone else been watching Christmas movies on Hallmark??}  Instead, I'm talking about the seasons of life and my current season: Mommyhood.

I must say Mommyhood is by far my favorite "season" of my life to date.

I am knee deep in laundry, dishes, meal time, bath time, play time, poop blowouts and so much more. and I freaking LOVE it.

My days consist of ~

making good, healthy meals, only for my kids to ask for a snack 5 minutes after not even trying it

building crazy tall rocketships and pretending we're off to outerspace

telling my 6 and 3 year old to put their pants and underwear back on... (several times a day this happens actually)

washing poop out of clothes then finding poop stuck in my fingernails hours later

trying to teach right from wrong, good vs bad and make respectable little humans

building forts and hiding inside with our flashlights

carting my little people everywhere with me, and let me tell you it is no easy feat to pack up 3 kids and get out the door just to run a quick errand. I often spend much more time getting us out the door than where we are actually going

Long gone are the days of long showers, going to the bathroom alone, sleeping in or time to myself

but you know what? it's just fine with me. I think I was born to do this Mom thing because I honestly cannot get enough of it. Even when I've spent every waking moment with my kids for weeks without a break, I don't ever wish for another life.  I know for sure I will miss this one day, but for now, I am in it and enjoying the season.

Weekly Recap {7.25.16}

Happy Monday, Friends! How is this the last week of July?! That is pure craziness. Not to mention that 1 week from today my BABY is turning 2!!

But let's not go there just yet. Here's a recap of our last week -

I took the kids to our local nature center/farm.  It was a hot day so I promised ice cream afterwards.

Scavenger Hunt time! This boy LOVES a scavenger hunt!

Ice cream time!

"Mom, take a picture of all my tattoos" Okkkkkkkkkay!

We went to Legoland with my sister in laws and nieces and nephew and the kids had a blast!! I definitely need to take just Brayden back there because he loved it and could have stayed all day.

Ella was so sad on this ride because she couldn't reach the pedals - silly girl!

My little nephew, so cute!

Ella actually fell asleep on the chair this day, she is so cute when she sleeps :)

My sweet Avery - every day when she gets up from her nap she wants cuddles and I am perfectly fine with this!

Tuesday night the hubs took Ella on a date to the movies and Thursday I took Brayden.  We saw the secret life of pets movie and it was really cute, although I thought they could have done with less talking about killing, it's a kids movie for goodness sake!

Friday we spent the morning at a splash pad then hit up the farmers market.

The weekend was pretty low key - Saturday the kids swam at my in laws while the boys golfed and we met up with them after. We watched Kung Fu Panda 3 at night then I actually stayed awake the watch How to be Single after the kids went to bed. 2 weekends in a row that I actually stayed up for a movie!

Sunday we relaxed most of the day then I went to to a LuLaRoe party at my SIL's.  Ella spent most of the morning doing puzzles, she is really into them lately!

When I got home from the party we played games, which isn't easy with a toddler running around!

We relaxed the rest of the night and now off to start our week!
