DIY Mickey Frame

Happy Halloween!! We're looking forward to trick or treating later even though it's going to be FREEZING!

This year when we went to Disney, I knew I wanted to do an autograph picture mat. The kids had their autograph books too, but this was something extra. I purchased an 11" x 14" mat and was the one in charge of keeping it safe in the backpack.  I can't tell you how nervous I was everyday that something was going to happen to it!

When we got home, Rick said he wanted a cool frame to put it in, not just some boring one. So of course I headed to Pinterest to see what I could do.  I came across this picture and that's where my inspiration came from.

I went to Joanns and got a basic black frame for about $8, then I bought a piece of white foambard. I already had glitter on hand so this little project didn't cost much at all.

The first steps were to cut out the Mickey ears out of the white foamboard. Then I had some cute little helpers paint them black for me.  Once dried, we painted Modge Podge over them and added the black glitter.

For the bottom half of the frame, I painted it red. I painted probably 3 coats. Once it was dry, we put the glitter on the frame using Modge Podge again. Once everything was dry, I sprayed the ears and the frame with a clear spray sealer to keep the glitter from getting everywhere.  Once it dried again, I super glued the ears to the top.

I loaded our mat and our picture in and bam, it was done! We finished this little project in one afternoon and I love that my girls helped me!

Rick was super happy with how it turned out and he thanked me for doing something fun vs a plain frame. I'm just glad he liked all the glitter LOL!

It's the only thing we've hung up in our basement so far and every time I see it, it makes me happy!

Well I'm off to volunteer at 2 Halloween parties today!! Hope everyone has a fun & safe Halloween!

Weekly Recap {10.30.17}

Happy Monday!! We're coming off a super fun weekend and I'm pretty much feeling back to normal so I'm one happy girl!

Let's take a look back at our week, it was a really good one!

Monday this pretty girl had picture day! I'm not sure about our decision to keep her down and not pull a little of it back, so we'll see how they turn out!

She wanted a pic with Max :)

We had rain on Tuesday so that called for jumping in puddles!

Wednesday night we headed to a local ninja park to play and burn off of some steam

Then we headed to a fun family night through our school district - it was an Escape Room - Math Edition and it was SO fun!! We finished with 8 minutes left and Brayden was very proud! The girls stayed with us for a little then wanted to go to childcare and we were happy to send them off :)

Thursday Ella had her last gymnastics class of the session so the parents got to have some fun too - we played with the giant parachute and seeing the kids smiles/giggles was so cute!!!

Thursday night we headed to the library for a Halloween party. It was a lot of fun but for some reason when it was time to start trick or treating around, Ella got super nervous/tense and cried and wouldn't do it - it was very odd and has us wondering how tomorrow will go?!

Friday I got to run some errands with just one kiddo and she was so happy to be alone in that cart and have full control over both steering wheels :)

We made slime earlier in the week with Ella's friend and Miss A has been playing with it non stop!

Ella was having fun with my big girl camera and wanted me to take a picture of her taking a picture of me :)

I cleaned and after I vacuumed the girls made "carpet angels"

Friday night Brayden was at a friends house, Avery was hanging with Rick and Ella wanted to do this craft with me, so we did. She was so happy and proud when we were done! I love how into crafts she is!

Later that night, Ella watched a Hallmark movie with me while the others did I have no idea what, haha. I was really into the movie. It was called Falling for Vermont - if it gets replayed, watch it! So cute!!

Saturday I ran some errands solo and then wee made some fun Halloween cookies to bring to a friends house. A few families were hanging out for the World Series and we had alot of fun! We got home late and it was straight to bed for everyone!

Sunday we took the kids to another fun park near us to burn off some energy - we finally had some decent weather (45 degrees) so we took advantage!

The kids were egging Rick on to go down this slide - he did not want to hahaha

The rest of the day was spent getting ready for the week, doing laundry, picking up, you know, the fun stuff :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Friday Favorites {10.27.17}

Happy Friday ladies! I am so ready for the weekend, how about you?! We don't have much planned but we are hanging out with a couple of families Saturday night to watch the World Series, so that should be fun!

Would you believe me if I told you I was still sick this week? Not bad, but it has just been lingering. I wound up with a nasty cough and even had to sleep downstairs so I wouldn't keep Rick up all night. I went to my dr just to rule anything out and wouldn't you know, it's just viral, womp womp. I can't wait until my mouth goes back to feeling normal, I haven't had coffee in 10 days because when I'm sick I just don't want it, but I'm ready to get back to it!

What's for Dinner?

Happy Wednesday!! Today I'm sharing some more tried and true dinner recipes we've been eating around here. I love finding new, yummy recipes - I hope you find something to try!

Bell Pepper Tacos

I don't follow this recipe exactly, I really just cook taco meat and add it into the peppers and bake with cheese then add my toppings when it's done. This is healthier alternative to regular tacos and since I'm always looking for ways to be healthier, this is a great option!

I love easy recipes and this doubles as super healthy!

Veggie Loaded Rotisserie Chicken Casserole - Broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, onion, greek yogurt for healthy deliciousness!! - ProjectMealPlan.com

Here's another awesome, easy and healthier meal! You substitute out ricotta cheese for cottage cheese and you can't even tell!

Crockpot Lasagne Recipe ~ this recipe makes lasagne SO EASY! No need to boil noodles, and it sets up beautifully.

I try and eat spaghetti squash once a week when the others are having pasta - I have really learned to love it!! Sometimes I eat it plain with a little butter and parmesan cheese and other times I have sauce.
