NYE {2017}

Yesterday I recapped Christmas, and today I'm talking NYE.

NYE was alot of fun this year! We usually hang out with my brother in law and sister in law and the kids, and this year 2 more couples/kids joined us! We ordered all our food from a restaurant and had it delivered to avoid anyone from having to cook and it was the best idea.

We made sure to have some games for the kids - one of them being that saran wrap game. Have you heard of it? You wrap a bunch of stuff up with saran wrap (I used candy, little blind bags, notepads, etc. It's a good time to do this because everything is on clearance at the stores! Plus I had a few items that completely didn't make their way into the kids' stockings so I threw those in the game too) - Someone starts with unwrapping the ball and the person to the right has to roll a specified number (we chose "2") as soon as they roll a 2, the ball moves to them and so on. It was a major hit and I'm bummed I have 0 pictures to show of it. We realized halfway through that the littler kids need more time since it's really hard to unwrap. Maybe next time I'll make a separate ball for the younger ones.

We played Left, Right, Center, once with the kids and once with the adults at the end of the night. That game is so, so fun!

We had a balloon drop this year and we decided to put it in the garage (our garage is like another hangout spot - there's a TV, a fridge, and Rick made sure to get it nice and toasty in there before the party) The balloon drop was somewhat of a fail because the string you pull broke, but the kids still had so much fun with it.

2 families left around 8/8:30 but our one friends stayed until midnight! I couldn't believe we made it up that late! Avery was passed out probably by 10 on the couch but I believe the others all just barely made it to midnight! We were pretty tired the next day so it was a good thing we had nothing planned but to lay around. We watched the entire new season of Fuller House and vegged out. It was pretty awesome :)

Here's to a great 2018!!

  6. NYE with kids is so different than pre-kids, but it's nice that yours are old enough to participate! Ella had no clue and just went to bed at her normal 7pm time lol

  8. Happy New Year! Ordering take-out is the best idea. And there’s usually less clean-up which means more time together. My favorite! The saran wrap game is such a blast. The balloon drop is a fantastic idea for celebrating the New Year with kids. I’m going to have to remember that for next year. Mase would get a big kick out of that. It looks like you guys had a great time. I love the pictures.

  9. Sounds like a fun evening and very similar to how we spent ours. Our girls made it until 1:00 in the morning though!!! I am immensely thankful we all slept in the next day.
