Girl Chat {February 2018}

Hey hey!! It's time for February's Girl Chat!

Today we are talking all about how we stay organized! Having 3 kids means we have A LOT of stuff and I like for everything to have a place, or at least mostly everything. Now if everyone could put said stuff back into said places, it would be a miracle :)

Ikea Kallax bookcase - we have this and have it turned on its side. It houses lots and lots of toys in our playroom! I found that these clear bins fit perfectly 2 to each opening.

KALLAX Shelf unit IKEA Choose whether you want to place it vertically or horizontally to use it as a shelf or sideboard.

Ikea art cart - this is a recent purchase and it's made such a difference! I keep everything the kids need to draw/color/cut/paint on this cart and it sits in the playroom, but with the wheels, we can move it around if need be

RÅSKOG Utility cart IKEA

Ikea toy chest -we have 2 of these; one is in the playroom and one in the basement. It holds all the dress up stuff, dolls, super heros, etc.

STUVA Storage bench IKEA Low storage makes it easier for children to reach and organize their things.

Command Center- A long time ago I blogged about our command center - it looks a little different these days as I swapped out the white bins for metal ones but the purpose is still the same. We keep the kids school stuff here, reminders, and our monthly calendar. It's super helpful!

I posted last month how I organize my spending with my monthly envelope system, it has been working great for me! You can read about that here

Another recent organization project I completed was making each kid a bin. These bins have file folders for Preschool through 12th grade. I got the idea from here

Even with all of these different organization systems in place, I still feel very unorganized 90% of the time. I guess that's life as a Mom with 3 little kids!

I can't wait to read everyone's posts today, hopefully I can find some inspiration!

Weekly Recap {2.12.18}

Another fun filled week/weekend is in the books! We got snow and then more snow and finally got a snow day on Friday!

but let's rewind a little

Last Tuesday after speech, I took Ella to the library for their STEM class. She had fun as always and loved playing with these space beads (really just super long bead necklaces) you put them all in the cup then pulled a little out and they would all fly out - she loved it! She also painted and made an airplane

Tuesday after Avery got home from school we did some fun science experiments - basically just give kids baking soda + vinegar and they're happy campers!!!

Wednesday while big sis was at preschool, me and Miss A did some worksheets and tried to do some school at home. She is so different than the other 2 where as she really isn't into this stuff yet, she just wants to have fun all day, every day. I cracked up at her with her hand on her head. I only imagine her thinking "gosh Mom, whyyyyyyyy do I have to do this?"

After Ella got out of school, we headed to the mall with my Mom. I had to pick up Avery's shoes for the Daddy/Daughter dance and I let the girls pick out their necklaces they're going to wear. $50 later at Claires and we had new necklaces, mermaid sequined journal and squishies. I think I got duped.

Getting massages LOL

Avery is getting so good at putting on lipstick :)

Thursday night we got the call that Friday was going to be a snow day. This was the kids Friday morning - they were sooooooo happy for a day off!

They headed outside to play around 9am LOL

Later on I decided to clean up my car (it was parked in the driveway) and take them sledding - by far the worst decision of my day. It took 40 minutes to get ready to go only for the girls to complain and cry and we went home after only 10 minutes of sledding. Definitely one of those "what was I thinking" moments. There was just too much snow and no one had been to the hill yet so they were falling out of their sleds every time and basically get white washed every time.

Later when Rick got home he went outside to snowblow and Ella wanted to join him so she got suited up

Before you know it, they all wanted to go out and this was my view from my front door :)

Saturday morning it was visiting day at the girls' dance classes - first was Avery's class then Ella. I can't handle their cuteness!!

Then we had Brayden's last basketball game of the season and it was his best game!!! He played so well, scored 2 baskets and just overall rocked it! I was soooo proud!!!

After the game my mom/sister/brother in law and nephew came over to hang out. We ended up hanging out all night and had alot of fun!

Sunday we took the kids sledding in the morning and it was much better than Friday, however, Ella still managed to cry. After sledding we stopped by our local donut shop and got donuts and hot chocolate.

Rick took the girls to a birthday party later in the day and Brayden had his buddy over. I got some things done but of course not nearly as much as I wanted to. We ended the night watching the Olympics

How was your weekend?

Friday Favorites {2.9.18}

Happy Friday!! We have our first snow day today in years!! I haven't even looked outside yet but we were expected to get between 8-12" and we already have a good 4-5 on the ground so it's going to be a winter wonderland around here! We plan on doing lots of lounging, movie watching, playing in the snow, and drinking hot chocolate today!

I saw this meme yesterday and it made LOL so hard! Especially because I did head to Trader Joe's yesterday for my favorite wine!

{ONE} - Bagel Recipe

I saw Stephanie post about these bagels on IG last week so I headed right over to Skinnytaste to check them out for myself! I think she made the 2 ingredient ones but I ended up making the 5 ingredient and OMG THEY ARE AMAZING!! Hubby and I agree, these are our new favorite bagels and I don't think I'll eat one from a bag again! (or at least not that often) I had some Tastefully Simple spices that I used on top but you can use whatever you like!

{TWO} - Bows, bows, bows!

I'm always browsing Etsy, it's one of my favorite sites. I came across this shop with the most darling bows/clips/headbands! Seriously, I want them all!

And if I had a baby girl right now, you better believe she would be rocking this

{THREE} -  New Top

I've been being soooooooo good about shopping lately but I had a Nordstrom gift card burning a hole in my wallet! I've been eyeing this peplum top for a while now and was so glad it's still 40% off!! I got the white but would love it in every color!!

I shared a few ways I try and make Valentine's Day special for my kids earlier this week - if you missed it, you can check it out here

One of the most popular things was these little mailboxes from the Target dollar spot!

{FIVE} - Sign

I am swooning over this sign - thinking maybe I can DIY it?!

living room decor, stay awhile » size 21 x 27 » painted lettering » background color: white » lettering color: black » frame color: brown » this sign is made to be hung by the frame, there is no other hanging hardware installed » Our signs are made for interior decorating; no clear

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Ours will be filled with snow and more snow, Brayden's last basketball game and a birthday party!

Making Valentine's Day Special

If you know me, then you know I'm all about doing extra little things to make my kiddos feel special. I love it!

Here's a few ways I  make my kids feel special around Valentine's Day

Image result for valentines day

*Notes on their door

I saw Beth post this last year and I immediately jumped on board! This is something that doesn't take much time at all and I know my kids are eager to wake up and see the newest note

*Mailboxes

I bought these mailboxes from the dollar spot years ago and decorated some for myself, Rick, Brayden & Ella. Avery wasn't a for sure thought at the moment but I knew to grab a few extra to store away just in case. This year we whipped them out and Ella helped Avery decorate hers. These hang out on our shoe cabinet and it's so fun to see the kids get excited when they have mail. But what's even more cuter is the notes they leave for each other or for myself and Rick! They really are taking the lead with these mailboxes and it's just another fun way to show affection

*Heart shaped food

A couple of years ago we made homemade heart shaped pizza (Valentine's Day was on the weekend) but this year, I think I'm starting a new tradition where I pick up frozen heart shaped pizzas from our local deep dish pizza place and surprising them with that for dinner. It will be a normal school night of homework and baseball practice, so this will just be something fun to throw in (and I'll be happy not having to cook!)

I'm also debating on picking up a heart shaped chocolate cake from Portillos - yuuuum!

*Little Gifts on the day

I always put together a little something for my kids for actual Valentine's Day. This year I'm keeping it simple and giving them some candy, a new beanie boo for the girls, a squishy for Brayden and some craft stuff I grabbed at the dollar spot.

There you have it - I don't go crazy but it's fun to do a few little things to make my kiddos feel extra special 💗
