Weekly Recap + Mother's Day 2018

Last week was filled with lots of fun mixed in with a whole lot of not sleeping - which I'll get to in a minute.

First, we started the week out with celebrating Miss A's 4th birthday in her preschool class (she doesn't turn 4 until August but school is ending this week) It was SO cute to see her getting all of the attention and she didn't hate it one bit.

We went to Brayden's school at night for the 2nd grade musical "Hats" and they all did such a good job!! It's so surreal sometimes as I sit and watch these things, in some ways it feels like I was just in elementary school up there singing, definitely one of those full circle moments!

Wednesday I had arranged for my Mom to watch the girls so I could surprise Brayden with our very first skip day (I read about this from another blogger) - it was just what the dr ordered too because he had been seeming like he needed some 1 on 1 time. He was so excited! (after he was confused as to why I was there LOL) - We headed to mini golf where he totally kicked my butt then had some ice cream, well actually I had a dole whip because they actually sell them there, and then we headed to an inside arcade. It was the perfect afternoon spent with my favorite boy!!

such a boy!!

Wednesday night the girls actually went on a date with Rick to dinner - they had requested McDonald's so that's where he took them but I had to crack up because they both put on fancy dresses and wanted a little makeup on, haha!

Thursday we ran errands and that was the night that Avery woke up croup coughing around midnight. I spent pretty much half the night bringing her in the bathroom for a steamy shower then laying with her to make sure she was ok. Friday morning she seemed totally better (gotta love how croup only hits in the middle of the night!!)

Friday was spent playing outside and cleaning for Saturday and then again in the middle of the night Avery's croup came back with a vengeance so it was another looooong night of not a lot of sleep.

Saturday Brayden's baseball game was cancelled which gave us some extra time in the morning to hang out and then around noon my Mom came over and my sister/BIL/nephew shortly after. We played outside for a while then ate a super yummy meal. We had a great time hanging out and my Mom loved her gifts and she spoiled me and my sister with gifts too! When they left we visited my MIL and gave her some gifts before heading home and calling it a night.

Saturday night I thought all would be ok with Avery since she had 2 nights of croup and usually that's the max but nope, her croup cough turned into a regular cough which was keeping her up all night and at one point I went to check on her and she was sitting up in bed coughing then threw up everywhere - Rick took her blankets and started the wash while I cleaned up more throw up that landed on the floor. I realized then she also spiked a high fever so I gave her some tylenol then slept in bed with her. It was another looooooooong night.

Sunday our plans were up in the air since Avery was still not feeling so good. The kids showered me with gifts and I loved every single one. Rick picked up a yummy breakfast and after we ate Avery seemed a little better so we headed to the nursery for some flowers and veggie plants, picked up my rental car since my car is finally getting fixed this week, then headed out for mexican food because that's all I wanted. Once we got home the weather was finally starting to look nice but I couldn't do anything but lay down. After 3 nights in a row of no sleep this Mama was TIRED. I think I took an almost 2 hour nap and I still woke up exhausted! We went for a walk around the neighborhood then home for some food and ice cream and ended our night watching The Sandlot 2 at Brayden's request.

After the kids finally got to bed, the hubs and I enjoyed a glass of wine before I hit the hay. How was your weekend?

  4. So sad that Avery was sick! A skip day with Brayden sounds like fun. I did that once with Gabbie when she was in pre-K. Now it seems like the kids miss a lot of school for various appointments and trips so I feel bad if I was to take them out of school!

  5. Y'all had a busy busy week! I love that you took Brayden on a skip day. I've often thought about doing that, too. It's always amazing for them to get that one on one time.

And I'm sorry that sweet Avery was sick. Poor thing. I hope she's feeling better!

  9. Oh girl! It’s rough enough when a little one is up all night, but three nights sounds absolutely exhausting. You earned and deserved that nap! Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry. I hope Avery’s feeling better!!!

I love, love, looooove the idea of a skip day! Brayden looks so happy. You’re setting him up to be a great man. Good job, Mama! I soooo want some one on one time with Henry. It would be beneficial to both of us, for sure. I love how your girls wore dresses and makeup to McDonald’s! LOL! Love it!
