DIY Chalkboard School Sign

I first showed you all my DIY chalkboard when I posted about my little man's first day of preschool - this chalkboard was so easy to make so I thought I would share :)

To make this, I first went to Michaels and bought the wood, I believe this piece was $9.99 then I had a 40% coupon (of course!!)

While I was at Michaels, I saw these super cute little wooden pieces that were already painted (and much better than I would have ever done!) and thought they would make a great touch! They were less than $1 each.

Everything else I had on hand to make this.

I started off by taping off the border then painted that while - I just acrylic paint because I had it on hand.  I did 2 coats and once that was dry I taped off the painted border and painted the center with chalkboard paint.

Once that was all dry, I used some 3M command squares to attach the cute little wooden pieces, that way I can swap them out if I ever want to use this board for something else.

I didn't take more pics of this project, mainly because I did it super late at night and forgot :( But you get the jist of it I'm sure, it is a super simple project.

And I think my little guy looked super cute holding up this sign on his first day! It will be interesting to see what he looks like when I take the same pic on his last day of school (and every other school year after!)
