Tis the Season

No no no, I'm not talking about Christmas in July today {although I totally could...has anyone else been watching Christmas movies on Hallmark??}  Instead, I'm talking about the seasons of life and my current season: Mommyhood.

I must say Mommyhood is by far my favorite "season" of my life to date.

I am knee deep in laundry, dishes, meal time, bath time, play time, poop blowouts and so much more. and I freaking LOVE it.

My days consist of ~

making good, healthy meals, only for my kids to ask for a snack 5 minutes after not even trying it

building crazy tall rocketships and pretending we're off to outerspace

telling my 6 and 3 year old to put their pants and underwear back on... (several times a day this happens actually)

washing poop out of clothes then finding poop stuck in my fingernails hours later

trying to teach right from wrong, good vs bad and make respectable little humans

building forts and hiding inside with our flashlights

carting my little people everywhere with me, and let me tell you it is no easy feat to pack up 3 kids and get out the door just to run a quick errand. I often spend much more time getting us out the door than where we are actually going

Long gone are the days of long showers, going to the bathroom alone, sleeping in or time to myself

but you know what? it's just fine with me. I think I was born to do this Mom thing because I honestly cannot get enough of it. Even when I've spent every waking moment with my kids for weeks without a break, I don't ever wish for another life.  I know for sure I will miss this one day, but for now, I am in it and enjoying the season.

  1. Amen, sister! I go to bed and can't wait to wake up and see the kids again. Sure, I sometimes complain that I'm overworked and underpaid ;), but having kids is the best! You're lucky you have three....yeah....trying to get a third over here, but like you said, Tis the season...this is it. These are the moments. I look up to you as a Mommy! It shows how much you love and adore your babies. Have a great day with your kiddos, girl - and thanks for the reminder that these are the days! :) :) :)

  3. Hahahaha I love that I’m not the only one who often needs to tell her child to put her pants and underwear back on!! Mommyhood is a hell of a ride, but I love it too. Great post, Lizzie!

  4. You are the very best mommy, Lizzie! You have always inspired me because your love for being a mother runs so deep.

And I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has found poop in her fingernails an hour after washing poop out of a kid's underwear. Lol.

  5. Oh I have had the wash the poop out of clothes and then find it under my nails later. So gross, but part of it. I can clean up poop and throw up and not have any issues anymore. So much has changed with having kids, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

  6. It is tiring & overwhelming & chaotic, but it is exactly where I'm supposed to be at this very moment!
