$12 Harvest Sign

I am so happy we are in the middle of this week - it has started off to be a doozy and I literally just wrote Monday and Tuesday off - both days were fails.

Anyway, this past weekend I finally finally finished a super easy project that I've been wanting to do for a couple of years now - pretty much ever since I saw this pin


I set off to Home Depot (sans kids!!) and picked out the best looking 1 x 10 board. I thought the height of 6ft was a tad too tall so I had them cut off 9 inches - just eyeballed the height I would want.

After my wood was cut, I headed over the paint section to get a sample of orange paint. I shocked myself and was able to pick out an orange color in 5 minutes! I ended up going with Peking Orange by Glidden.


This was all I needed for my project since the rest of stuff I had at home.


First, I stained the piece of wood super dark, jacobean to be exact. I let that dry then I painted on the orange. I used a brush because I wanted a weathered look, not a smooth look. I did two coats and was happy with how it looked.

 


For the letters, I pulled out my trusty silhouette portrait and got to work. I cut out each letter on a piece of cardstock and used that as my stencil.  I laid them out on the board and taped them down with painters tape and dabbed white paint (that I already had on hand) on with a foam brush.

  

 Once it dried, I sprayed the whole thing with a clear coat.

And then set it on our front stoop. So easy, so cheap and so cute!!!

This little project cost me just under $12 and I would say that's a win!

Halloween Home Tour {2016}

Happy Tuesday friends!

I thought it would be fun to show you a peak into our home. I have it pretty much decked out for Halloween now and the kiddos are loving it! We decorated one night when Brayden was at soccer practice and when he came home Ella greeted him at the door telling him in the most excited voice ever that we had decorated.  He was so happy to walk into it!


When you walk in our front door, we have a shoe cabinet off to the right a little - I usually put holiday decor on top of it and this year it's holding the cutest little ghost feet (we made this canvas last year)

Then you turn into our formal living room turned playroom where I put a bunch of bats up that I cut out with my silhouette - that thing is such a time saver!

I put haunted caution tape up around the window in the playroom and also across one of our toy storages

I love this little tree so much and the glitter ornaments are so fun!

This is a closet door and I already have a hook there so I tossed this little decoration up

The kitchen isn't really decorated, but I did put a couple things on this corner shelf

Downstairs in our family room, I really just focused on our mantel.  I picked up the BOO sign from Hobby Lobby as well as the banner

In our bookcase I put a yarn pumpkin and another picture holder - I love looking back at my kiddos in their costumes!

I picked up these spiders from the Target dollar spot and so wish I had grabbed more! 

 And there you have it! Not over the top but just enough to make it super fun for the kids!

Weekly Recap {10.3.16}

How oh how is already Monday? This weekend went by way too fast!



Last week we stopped at the library for story time, but first the girls had some computer time :)

Tuesday was gymnastics for Miss A! Girlfriend loves this class but she doesn't love to listen so well

Ella looked so cute before school I had to snap a pic! (her smile kills me!)

Brayden had picture day and he looked so so handsome! (This was of course after he fought me and fought me on his hair and how I was styling it)

We flew a kite some more in our backyard and Brayden was so happy he was able to keep it up for a super long time!

One morning we had some extra time for once so we were able to squeeze in a came of Chutes and Ladders :)

We were suppose to meet some friends at a park and have a picnic but the weather did not cooperate and our friend ended up getting sick so we opted for a picnic at home, the girls were thrilled!

Ella worked on her letters and I am seriously so impressed with her!

We had some fun time playing in our play room (we had terrible weather all week, rain pretty much everyday)

 

Friday we headed to a neighboring towns library for a fun class - before it started we played in the play area for a while

Once we went into the class, the girls were in heaven! They got to spray water into a giant bucket filled with rice krispies and listen to them crackle, they got paint with bubble wrap around their feet (although Ella wouldn't try this), they did bubble wrap hop scotch, play doh, and made bouquets of flowers in colanders. It was so much fun!!

 

Saturday it was dance class for Ella in the morning then I took the bigs to a birthday party

I was so excited my new shoes came too!!

Later that night we were suppose to go out with friends but we couldn't get a sitter so I ended up going out with some Moms from Brayden's school.  It was just dinner so I stayed casual and thought I'd be out maybe a couple hours, well that turned into 5 hours and I was soooo exhausted! I was the lame Mom who went home and they still stayed out! I just cannot hang


Sunday we had our nephews 3rd birthday party but before that I was working on cleaning up this antiqued window my Mom picked up for me at a local antique store. I have high hopes to hang this in our kitchen and add a boxwood wreath around it :)

Sunday night was spent with sweats on the couch eating my favorite gelato - perfect end to a fun filled weekend!
