Back to School with Mabel's Labels!

Back to school time can be stressful for sure, but today I'm sharing something that can help make it a touch easier on you.

Enter Mabel's Labels - Have you heard of them? They made ADORABLE custom labels, stickers and tags for your little ones (or for yourself!)

These labels are so great for organizing your back to school supplies.

We went with the Ultimate Back to School Combo - and Brayden was all about the sunglasses emoji!

Let me tell you, it was so nice to show up to Back to School night with these babies in my hand. It made labeling so easy!!  We labeled all of Brayden's folders, binder, supply case, glue bottles, highlighters and more!

I also labeled his shoes and used the tags to attach to his lunch bag and backpack

Thanks to Mabel's Labels for helping this Mama stay organized this school year! I hope my boy has the best year!

Thank you Mabel's Labels for sponsoring this post

Back to School Must Haves

Happy Friday friends!

This month I'm so excited I got my butt in gear to participate in my blogger buddy's link up! Erin is the sweetest and I love this link up she hosts. I know this should have been posted yesterday, but I was too busy sharing all about my dream vacation..

This month is all about 10 back to school must haves!

School for Brayden starts in a little over a week, and the girls don't start preschool until after Labor Day, however, we have started getting our butts in gear before it will be here before we know.

Here's our 10 back to school must haves:

{ONE} - New Backpack

The kids loooove picking out their backpacks. Last year we got them from Target and while they were really cute and themed to their liking, the quality just wasn't there. This year I ordered Brayden a new one from PBK and I've yet to get the girls (they really don't need one, but I know they like to carry one)

Brayden got the large backpack from this collection - I love it!

Fairfax Navy/White Stripe Backpack

{TWO} - Lunchbox

Last year I collaborated with Bentgo and received one in return. I love this lunchbox so much and so does Brayden - he loves that he can have a little bit of everything, which is his preference over a standard lunch (a little high maintenanced is he? Yep! lol)

You can find Bentgo lunchboxes on Amazon. I never had a lunch bag to put the Bentgo in (the one from the beginning of the year wouldn't fit it) so I would just stick it in his backpack, but the other day while I was at Aldi I saw a lunch bag big enough and grabbed it for $5! Score!

{THREE} - Thermos

On the days I don't pack Brayden his Bentgo - I love to use a Thermos and make him pasta/meatballs or mac n cheese. We have this one and it works perfectly!

THERMOS FOOGO Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel 10-Ounce Food Jar, Charcoal/Teal

{FOUR} - New Clothes

It isn't back to school time without some new clothes, right!? I  picked up a few items from Gap's Friends & Family sale and my Mom has said she plans to get some them some stuff too.

{FIVE} - New Shoes

Thanks to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, I was able to get them some new shoes at great prices.

Brayden got a new pair of Nikes & Converse and Ella got some new Twinkle Toes. Thanks to my sister in law, the girls really don't ever need new shoes, but once in a while it's nice to get them!

{SIX} - School Supplies

I don't know why, but I won't ever buy the school supply package from school. There's something about going and picking everything out - when I was little, I LOVED doing that and I'm trying to get my kids to inherit that. Brayden doesn't seem to be there, while I know when Ella hits elementary school, girlfriend will be all about it! I love going to Target for school supplies

{SEVEN} - Labels

I love the idea of labeling things for school - notebooks, binders, lunchboxes, shoes - pretty much anything I can. I did this for Brayden when he entered Kindergarten and had enough to continue last year. This year I'm looking at Mabels Labels - I think Brayden would love some Emoji labels!

{EIGHT} -  Clip on Beanie Boos

Brayden & Ella LOVE these things - last year I think Brayden's backpack had 5 as well as other stuff he would clip to it. By the end of the year, this backpack was hanging past his butt LOL

{NINE} - Earlier Bedtime

Of course in Summer we let loose and let the kids stay up later than normal, but at back to school time, that all changes. I have to say, I'm looking forward to this one!

{TEN} - Lots of love & good wishes

At the start of each new school year, I get very emotional. Time is flying by and I know it's not going to slow down as much as I beg it to. I want to always send my kids off to their new school year with tons of praise and positivity and of course, lots of love.

What's on your back to school must have list? I can't wait to read through the link up!

Brayden's First Day of 1st Grade

Well, it happened.  My baby boy started 1st grade yesterday! I literally feel like I blinked and I now have a young man living with us.

I get so emotional around this time of year. It's so bittersweet.  I absolutely love elementary school and what it has done for Brayden, and of course growing up is a part of life, but man does it pull at my Mama heartstrings. I kept thinking back to when he was just a teeny tiny baby (which is kind of hard to remember and that kills me) and how fast the time has gone.  I will always want to freeze time but since that can't happen, I embrace these new changes.

The day before his first day I had Brayden put on this t-shirt I made him last year and snap a picture. I didn't want to have to do this on the morning of his first day. I know I will love looking back at how he changes over the years.

And for fun here's last years vs this year. Look at where the shirt hits his legs! He's grown so much already!

At night we read none other than The Night Before 1st Grade and it was a really cute book.  His Kindergarten teacher gifted each kid this on the last day of school last year. I also bought the night before Kindergarten when he was going into Kinder and that one is adorable as well!

Yesterday morning I made chocolate chip/blueberry pancakes at Brayden's request.  I did have to go upstairs and wake him but thankfully he didn't give me too hard of a time.

I asked him 3 questions on his first day:

  1. What are you most excited about 1st grade?

      Answer: Meet new friends

      2. Is there anything you are worried about?

     Answer: No

      3. What do you want to be when you grow up?

     Answer: Race car driver

After breakfast we headed out for a few pictures then my Mom came over and we all drove to school. For the first day I like to drive him in the morning but he will take the bus home and here on out.

Brayden was so sweet including his sisters and my Mom in all his pictures! I love that he shared his special day with everyone so nicely.

Ella even got a goodbye kiss!

1st grade feels so different and I kinda hate that.  Kindergarten is such a big deal, especially since last year was the first year our district did all day, so on the first day the teachers were all outside and it was exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. But 1st grade? You just show up and have your kid walk into school.  A couple teachers were outside but not any 1st grade ones.  Luckily the school janitor let me go in with Brayden and I was able to walk him to his class and snap some pics. (They didn't want parents all over the school so I was happy to get in before the janitor got in trouble for letting us all in)

 With his teacher

I gave him the biggest hug and the tears just started falling. He almost cried but he didn't and I was so proud! (now only if I could have held it together, we would have been good!) His teacher is so sweet and gave me a big hug.  She has 4 grown kids of her own and she said with the first one everything is always so hard, but it gets easier. I know that's true, but I have a feeling I will still be crying like a baby when Ella & Avery hit grade school!

The rest of the day was a little weird, it definitely felt different not having Brayden with us, but us girls managed to have a great day!  Ella and I made Brayden the monster cookies (which he said are his favorite even though I've never technically made these exact ones) and I enjoyed hearing all about the first day!

I know 1st grade is going to be amazing for my boy!

Let's Start Planning

With school starting so soon, I have been looking at planners for the 2016-2017 school year. When my son started Kindergarten last year, I bought my first academic planner to go along with the school year and I loved it!

Today I'm highlighting some academic planners that are cute, functional and affordable!

Bloom Daily Planner - Size: 7.5" x 9"

This planner is not only pretty but looks pretty functional too.  It has the layout I love, a full monthly calendar then a weekly calendar.

I'm not sure I would use the monthly vision pages, but who knows, maybe?

DaySpring Planner -  Size = 8" x 9". This planer not only has a monthly and weekly calendar, but 18 colorful laminated tab dividers, notes, lined, grid, blank and coloring pages.

The Reminder Binder - Size = 6.5" x 8"

This binder is so colorful it just screams fun! Plus it comes with over 300 stickers to help make planning more fun. It has a monthly view as well as weekly and yearly views.

2016-2017 17-Month Reminder Binder® Planner Calendar Weekly & Monthly Views, Lists, Contact Pages, Two Pockets, 312 Planner Stickers, Back to School, Teacher Gift, Scheduling Appointments & Events

Kate Spade New York Planner - Size = 6" x 7 3/4"

This is the planner I bought last year and I loved it! It's so pretty, has everything I needed and just worked so well.

It has a notes section, pockets and laminated tabs and shows a monthly view as well as weekly.

A planner wouldn't work without some awesome pens! I just ordered these and they are now my favorite! I assign each family member a color pen and that makes it much easier to spot who has what going on and when.

I know some people spend way more on pens, but to me they are just that and these work great.

So, which planner is your favorite? I think I might change it up this year and order the Bloom Daily Planner, it's just so pretty!
