Christmas 2019 Recap

While Christmas is still fresh in my head, I need to recap it! We had such a nice Christmas and the kids truly were so happy and thankful for everything they got. They even said it was the best Christmas ever - umm, I'll take it!!

Christmas Eve the kids woke up to a goodbye letter from Twinkles, they were so sad he had to leave that night. It's crazy the magic of the elf, but again, I'll take it. It's so innocent and sweet.

We got our house all ready for my mom and sister's family to come over. We had such a nice time celebrating with them and the kids loved everything they got - the girls especially loved their new Barbie Camper!

My family left around 6 and while they were headed to my aunts house (we chose to stay home this year and start a new tradition) we feasted on our yummy dinner. It was our first time making prime rib and it was delish! After dinner, we let the kids open 1 present that was addressed to the entire family and it was matching pj's for all! This was the first year we did this and we all loved it!

Rick purchased a new tripod this year so we set up for a photo in front of the tree.

Then it was time to watch a Christmas movie,  Christmas Vacation was voted and I was not going to oblige since I love that movie and we hadn't watched it all month yet. After the movie, we set out milk & cookies & carrots then went outside to sprinkle the reindeer food on the lawn.

Rick read Twas the Night Before Christmas and the kids were off to sleep.

Earlier in the month I had already assembled the Barbie Dream House which was a combo gift for the girls from us and it was hiding in the garage. I was so happy I didn't leave that to do until Christmas Eve.  Rick on the other hand, had to assemble the ping pong table we got for Brayden #sucker 😜

We were up pretty late moving presents around making sure the kids were in fact asleep and I think we finally went to bed by midnight.

Christmas morning the kids were sleeping in actually! All but Ella, she's always the first one up. We actually had to wake Avery around 8am!  The best part of the morning is always sitting back with a cup of coffee watching the joy in the kids' faces. It really is the best!

After our slow morning, we had our homemade cinnamin rolls that the kids ask for every year and I love making. We headed to church around 1 then to my in-laws around 3. It was a fun-filled day and I love looking back and seeing all the happiness that was around!!

I'll be back next week to recap NYE which was also a great time!

Merry Christmas 2019!!!

I know I have been a little (ok ALOT absent) from the blog this year but I still want to try and keep at it, and hopefully 2020 will bring just that!

We are just 6 days away from Christmas and I am scrambling to do ALL THE THINGS while also remembering to SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY THE MOMENT. We have had so much fun this month getting ready for the holiday - we've made cookies, drove around looking at lights drinking hot chocolate, made a gingerbread house, went to a couple holiday events, met Santa and this weekend we have tickets to see the lights at the Botanical Garden which I cannot wait for!!! This time of year is truly so special!

From our family to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

December Recap {2018}

Testing, testing.... so yeah, I totally didn't mean to take a 4 month blogging break but yep, it happened! No real reason other than I am just busy with life and blogging was obviously last on the list. But,  I still need to recap our December!!  It's my favorite time of the year and I always tell myself to soak up the moments and even though I do, it still flies by.

We went downtown to see Santa and have lunch at the Walnut Room. I was a little bummed because the Santa was clearly younger than the previous year and Brayden noticed.  He obviously knows there are plenty of helper Santas but we were all convinced the last year Santa was the REAL Santa.

We had our annual cookie/pierogi day and made a bunch of yummy stuff!!!

We went and saw the zoo lights and had perfect weather!

I hosted another family craft day and love what we made!

We drove around to look at lights in our jammies, drinking hot chocolate - the kids LOVE this so much

We built our annual gingerbread house and managed to only get a small headache LOL

Avery had her last preschool winter performance and I was so present knowing this. I may have shed a few tears too

We celebrated a few Christmas's

and our elf sent us off with a North Pole breakfast!!

Christmas Eve night we celebrated first at our house with my family then headed to my aunts

Christmas morning we were woke VERY EARLY with excited kiddos! We got a few more minutes of sleep then it was downstairs to see all the goodies! The kids were all so excited and thankful for what they got which always makes us so happy.

Later in the day we went to church, then my in laws to celebrate some more.  It was a great day!

NYE we went to my BIL & SIL's house and feasted on delicious food and yummy drinks and actually made it to midnight!! woohoo!

and that's how our 2019 concluded!! I cannot even believe how far we are into 2019 that this all seems like a distant memory already! but we had an amazing 2018 and I truly hope for the same in 2019!!
