May Goals

So I have yet to post any monthly goals this year but felt like this month was as good as any to start - there are a few things I hope to accomplish this month and maybe writing them down will help that, maybe

~Finish our 2016 Family Photo album. I started using Mixbook a couple of years ago and at the beginning of each year I start making our album from the previous year. I realize that it's May and I'm not yet done with 2016 but I'm so close. This month it will get done!

~Clean up the garden beds and do some planting. I have done a little clean up but there is much more to do. I always like to plant our veggies on Mother's Day with the kids help and also some annuals. Oh and getting some more mulch down would be nice too.

~Work on a new summer art plate with the kids feet.  My SIL told me about Shay's awesome new plate she had made and I love it! I am going to try and attempt to re-create that on my own, maybe not entirely the same but I do love the feet as flip flops. The hubs is a pretty good artist so I'm thinking if I can get the feet down, he can do the rest - thanks babe :)

~Finish our master bathroom! This one really has nothing to do with me, but it's still a goal for the month. Now that all the pipe work/electrical is done, Rick is now remodeling our master bathroom. Yeah we had 7 days of work go on here to it just look like nothing happened, LOL. Anyway, now he has to tile the shower, tile the floor, install a new vanity, mirror, etc. I can't wait for it to be done and I bet neither can he!

~Get Avery & Brayden's new beds in. We are giving Avery Brayden's twin bed and converting the crib into a full bed for Brayden (he has the biggest room). I really hope this one gets done this month then I can focus on decorating their rooms!

5 things, I think that is more than enough LOL. What do you have planned for May?

June Goals

Welp, my monthly goals have totally taken a back seat for um, all year so far, but I thought I would jump in and make some for June.

  • Make summer bucket list and start checking some stuff off
  • Clean out hall closet and get it organized
  • Go through the kids clothes and get rid of items that don't fit
  • Go on at least 1 date with the hubby
  • Read 1-2 books
  • Finish putting the rest of 2015 videos on DVD

I'm starting off easy given it is summer break around here and our June is pretty packed.  I think I can get these accomplished though!

What are some of your goals??

September Goals

Ahhh September is here!  My favorite month next to December. I thought this was a good month to pick back up on my monthly goals.  Last I checked, I totally failed at Julys goals, completely skipped August and now here we are.

1.  Arrange and host a garage sale - We have so much stuff that my hubby would just love to throw out but I am going to take the time and have a garage sale this month. It really is alot of work to put together but I'm going to make it a priority. Then I'll use the $ I make to buy myself something nice :)

2. Clean out and organize upstairs hall closet. - This closet is a complete mess! Everytime I open it to get a towel or my cleaning supplies I get super annoyed. I am really going to try and completely empty it and organize it this month. Stayed tune for a horrific before picture :)

3. Stay on top of my cleaning schedule. - I usually do something every day but lately have been slacking and have been doing all of my cleaning at one time (laundry, kitchen, floors, bathrooms) I need to get back on track to doing 1 big thing each day to stay on top of things

4. Celebrate our sweet Ella turning 3 and my anniversary - My little girl is turning 3 this weekend! We are just having family come to a local amusement park but I still want my girl to feel special. I have lots of presents for her to open and need to get her something special to wear.

This month is also my wedding anniversary, 7 years! This is the year of wool/copper so I plan to incorporate those into a gift for the hubby and then of course go on a date and celebrate!

5. Decorate for Fall - I don't decorate for all the holidays, but Fall is one I definitely do! I don't do too much however. You can see our mini fall tour from last year here. I'll probably do the same thing this year because it just makes me happy :)

There we go - keeping it pretty easy this month. With school starting for my oldest, soccer practice/games, dance lessons, I hope I can find the time to keep myself accountable this month :)

Happy September everyone!!!

July goals

Well June sure did come and go quickly! Let's see how I did with those goals first....

1Finish planning little mans 5th birthday party - Completed, partially. This goal is definitely spilling over into July, but his birthday is less than 2 weeks ago so it's definitely going to be finished

2. Mark off some items off our summer bucket list - Done! We visited the pool, a local amusement park, ate too much ice cream and more!

3Read a book - I did have the best intentions to read 10 days to a Less Defiant Child (we're having some issues with a certain soon to be 5 year old) and while I didn't finish the whole book, I did read a good amount and really all I could take from it was for the parents to not yell. I related to so many things in the book (my behavior, my kids, my hubbys) but the book didn't really give good advice on what to do, it more just went over certain situations and I would be all like, Yes! This has happened to us! But there was no real answer on what to do... Parenting is tough and I think with each age there are different behaviors to overcome and I'm happy to say that the past couple of weeks have been really good around here.  I made a promise to really not yell unless it is necessary and have been sticking to it and my almost 5 year old has been behaving a lot better. Of course everyday is not perfect but hopefully we're getting somewhere!

4. Find a new bedroom dresser & nightstands - Failed. To be honest I barely had time to look. So this is ongoing...

Now onto July's Goals

1. Eat better - I think we already eat pretty good overall but I know we can be healthier. I want to incorporate more veggies into my kids diet and this is not going to be an easy task, but I'm up for the challenge!

2. Celebrate the 2 men in my life - This month my husband my son have birthdays. My son is turning 5 so that is pretty big in my book and I hope I can hold it together on his birthday because I'm really having a hard time believing it's been 5 years since I had him. And my hubby, well, he's a pretty great guy so he deserves some celebrating too!

3. Clean out the kids closets - my kids closets are so messy. There are so many old clothes that don't fit just thrown in there and I've been super lazy about taking the time to organize them. Hopefully this month I get to it.

4. Do lots of swimming - My kids love swimming and while it's not the easiest task to take them all by myself, I want to do more of it this month. Of course, that is all weather permitting since pretty much all of June all it did was rain here (seriously, we broke the record) so I'm hoping July brings lots of warm days for us to go swimming!

5. Make and send out Miss A's birthday invites - You guys, my baby is turning 1 in less than a month! How did that happen!? I am making her invites because I want to and love doing things like that. They will take some work so hopefully right after my boys carnival party I can knock them out.

What are some of your goals? I like to keep mine super simple in the summer because we are barely home which leaves little time for anything other than cleaning and cooking :)

June GoaIs

Happy June 1st! How is this year halfway over? Craziness I tell you.

June is a fun month mostly because it is yours truly's birthday month! I'll be turning 31 and it just doesn't even seem right as I type that.  I still feel like I'm a teenager sometimes...although I have quite the responsibilities that most teenagers do not.

Moving on, let's first recap my May Goals before I dive into June goals

1. Start & Finish reading Going off Script - Done & Done! I started reading this book on the flight to FL and since we were traveling with 3 little kids I think I got through 3 pages.  But when we got back, I finished it in 2 days. It was such a fun read and I love Guiliana so of course I loved her book.

2. Build another veggie garden + plant vegetables - Check! The hubby built my second garden bed and the kids helped me plant new veggies, we can't wait for everything to start growing!

3. Plant flowers - Yep! I didn't plant much, but I got the front of the house and some in the back

4. Create a summer bucket list of fun things to do with the kids - Completed! I'll be sharing it later this week. We had fun coming up with tons of fun ideas!

So there you go - my first attempt at monthly goals and I basically rocked it :) I don't know why I would want to set the bar so high because I'm sure this likely won't happen very often

1. Finish planning little mans 5th birthday party - We are throwing our favorite little boy an awesome carnival themed 5th birthday party. It's going to be in our backyard and I have so many plans that need to get in motion. Invites are being sent out this week then I need to start getting everything I need for the games, face painting, finalize food, and so much more.

2. Mark off some items off our summer bucket list - This month seems like the official kick off to summer and what better way to celebrate that then actually doing some of our bucket list! I'm seeing lots of pool time, park time, picnics, ice cream, and so much more in our future.

3. Read a book - I have a couple of books on behavior in children that I would like to read especially since a soon almost 5 year old really knows how to push his boundaries. These books will not be as fun to read as Going off Script but they are necessary. I'm hoping to read at least one this month

4. Find a new bedroom dresser & nightstands - This may sound like an easy task to some but not for us. We have had a broken hand me down dresser in our bedroom for a while and before that we had part of original set from 9 years ago which was also broken.  We keep saying we need to get a new dresser in there and then new nightstands but it always seems to slip our minds. So this month, I want to actually set out to find something! I'm thinking I want cream colored because our walls are a pretty light blue and eventually the hubs is going to build us a planked headboard that I want stained dark.

Alright, I think most if not all of these are attainable! Again, I kept it very simple because I know myself. I hope everyone has a great Monday :)

May Goals

Happy Monday friends!! We are back from a whirlwind vacation to the most magical place on Earth and I'm already wanting to plan my next trip back.  We had the BEST time in Disneyworld and I can't wait to recap it (hopefully it doesn't take me forever to do that)

In the meantime, I think it's about time I jump on this whole monthly goals bandwagon :) It seems like a good way to keep myself accountable, right? maybe? We'll see.

So for May, here's what I got:

1. Start & Finish reading Going off Script - I just bought this book and have high hopes in finishing it this month. One would think a month is PLENTY of time to finish a book, but for me, it might not even be enough. See, the only time I have to read is around bedtime and once my body hits the sheets, it's usually off to la la land within minutes.  So reading usually goes like this, read a couple of pages, fall asleep mid sentence somewhere, start the next night reading the same pages as the night before because I can't remember if I read them. But May, this will be the month I finish a book :)

2. Build another veggie garden + plant vegetables - This is a 2 part goal and one which involves the help of my hubby.  He built me a raised garden bed last Mother's Day and yesterday he built my second one. I'm kind of turning this into a tradition until I run out of room for beds :) Me and the kids will then be planting our fruits/vegetables for the summer. I look forward to doing this with them again this year.

3. Plant flowers - this kind of goes with above but I'm separating it because I don't think it will get done on the same day.

4. Create a summer bucket list of fun things to do with the kids -This is my first official summer as a Stay at Home Mom and I plan on making the absolute most of it! Especially because after this summer my baby boy is off to Kindergarten. Yes, Kindergarten! I think I need to go cry now.

For my first shot at this, I'm going to keep it simple and short. 4 things to try and accomplish all while taking care of 3 littles, yeah, I got this, I hope

Do you do monthly goals?

What are some of yours?
