DIY Mickey Frame

Happy Halloween!! We're looking forward to trick or treating later even though it's going to be FREEZING!

This year when we went to Disney, I knew I wanted to do an autograph picture mat. The kids had their autograph books too, but this was something extra. I purchased an 11" x 14" mat and was the one in charge of keeping it safe in the backpack.  I can't tell you how nervous I was everyday that something was going to happen to it!

When we got home, Rick said he wanted a cool frame to put it in, not just some boring one. So of course I headed to Pinterest to see what I could do.  I came across this picture and that's where my inspiration came from.

I went to Joanns and got a basic black frame for about $8, then I bought a piece of white foambard. I already had glitter on hand so this little project didn't cost much at all.

The first steps were to cut out the Mickey ears out of the white foamboard. Then I had some cute little helpers paint them black for me.  Once dried, we painted Modge Podge over them and added the black glitter.

For the bottom half of the frame, I painted it red. I painted probably 3 coats. Once it was dry, we put the glitter on the frame using Modge Podge again. Once everything was dry, I sprayed the ears and the frame with a clear spray sealer to keep the glitter from getting everywhere.  Once it dried again, I super glued the ears to the top.

I loaded our mat and our picture in and bam, it was done! We finished this little project in one afternoon and I love that my girls helped me!

Rick was super happy with how it turned out and he thanked me for doing something fun vs a plain frame. I'm just glad he liked all the glitter LOL!

It's the only thing we've hung up in our basement so far and every time I see it, it makes me happy!

Well I'm off to volunteer at 2 Halloween parties today!! Hope everyone has a fun & safe Halloween!

Disney World 2017 Recap - Day 6

Friday was 6th and final at Disney World. We started the day by getting to Magic Kingdom by around 7:15 (AM!) They changed the park opening hours from 8am to 7am so we figured we would get a jump start. The park was empty and we got our perfect castle picture!

We immediately split up and the boys went on Space Mountain and us girls went on Astro Orbitor. I was surprised that was Ella's favorite ride because it does spin pretty fast at some points, and you're super high in the air, but nonetheless, it was her fave!

Then we were off to the Tomorrowland Speedway - the kids all loved this "ride" and Ella is still a crazy driver, even 2 years later :)

We hung out in Fantasyland all morning and then we got to meet Gaston! Oh my gosh, he was HILARIOUS!!!!

Avery's face cracks me up and Ella did not want to get near him! LOL

From there we rode the 7DMT again (just me and Brayden and then Rick and Brayden since Ella absolutely refused to go on again LOL)

After a couple more rides, we headed to our Chef Mickey's reservation for brunch. We did this last time and it's always a good one to get if your kiddos want to meet Mickey & friends!

This was our day we were leaving - we had a 5:30pm flight so all our stuff was packed up and being held at the bell hop, but once we got done eating and realized we had a little over an hour until we had to leave for the airport so we made the crazy decision to go get our swimsuits out and go swimming - it was GORGEOUS the day we were leaving, go figure!!

So that's how we ended our magical-filled week! This was a trip for the books, that's for sure. So many wonderful memories were made and I can't wait to go back!

See you back here Friday for my favorites of the week!!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!! I'm so excited to show off our matching shirts I got for our Disney World trip this year. Yes, we are not going for a while but when I saw these shirts, I just knew we had to have them!

I started searching Pinterest and Etsy and was dabbling with the idea of making my own but then I saw these shirts by Little Jane Lane on Etsy and I knew they were it

Working with Jenny, the shop owner, was so easy. She was so nice and understanding with my many emails (I really wanted to make sure I got the sizing right, especially since my kids won't be wearing them for quite a few months) - and was so quick with responding, something I always appreciate!

Once I decided on sizing, my shirts came pretty quickly! When I opened them, I was soooo happy!

I loved the detail on the "O's" in the Mouse - the girl shirts have a deeper red glitter for the bow and the boys look like Mickey, so fun!

I can hardly wait to wear these shirts in Disney!! I'm so glad the hubby goes along with matching shirts :)

There are so many more adorable fun Disney shirts in Jenny's shop - look at this one!

Disneyworld Recap - Days 5 & 6

Ahhh my Disney recap is coming to an end today, but don't worry, I'll be back with all of my tips and advice that I learned soon!

Day 5 was our Hollywood Studios day! I'll admit, when planning this day I thought it wouldn't be as much as fun as the other parks because there really is only 1 ride that our kids could go and the rest of the stuff you do here is all shows. But man was I wrong! These shows they put on were seriously incredible.  Everything is done top notch and not cheesy in any way.

We started our day at HS by running walking briskly to meet Buzz & Woody.  I read that they are the one of the longest meet & greets and I knew we had to meet them in time before our 9:30am Little Mermaid show.  We got to Buzz & Woody within minutes and were the 4th in line, not bad :)

For some reason, Brayden was actually nervous to meet them! He had been really chill about meeting all of the other "boy" characters (only getting really nervous with the princesses) but with these guys he was hesitant.  I don't think he could believe he was actually meeting them, like he was star struck a little.  These guys are his favorite. I walked up with him at first.

Ella was terrified of them and I think Avery managed to hold it together this time :)

We then saw the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show and it was so good.  I literally got chills during it because it was just awesome to be in Disney, watching this amazing show they put on and seeing it all through the kids' eyes as I mentioned, it was just priceless.

We went off my original plan this day and headed to see Muppets 4D at the hubs request and I'm so glad we did! Originally I hadn't planned for us to see that show but it was really fun.

There weren't as many photo opps here as the other parks but we still took advantage when we saw them

We went as saw the Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage show and Ella was having another one of her epic meltdowns, poor girl was overtired I'm sure, and overstimulated

Again, another show that did not disappoint.  Brayden was absolutely immersed in this show and Ella was all about it until half way through when she decided she'd rather take a little nap

Meeting Phineas and Ferb was pretty cool for this guy

Same with Mike & Sully!

We had lunch at a really nice Italian restaurant but I started not feeling well at all during it. Like I was having constant motion sickness and was so dizzy.  I started noticing any time I would sit still it would happen but if I was out and about I didn't notice.  I later realized it was vertigo and it continued to haunt me for a week after we got home.  No fun at all.

After lunch we headed back to our resort for pool time! The kids so needed this break to recharge and have fun in the water.  It really worked out perfectly where I fed Avery then we walked down to the pool and she fell asleep so parked her where we could see her and she slept the entire time we swam. It was nice to give Brayden & Ella undivided attention without worrying about Avery.  There was a huge 50ft water slide at the hotel and Brayden went down it multiple times, each time I was still impressed with him.

There was also a mini slide and the kids loved going down that one as well

This girl was so cute, everytime we walked past a window she would stop and say in the cutest voice "I see animals!!"

After much needed pool time we got ready and went back to HS. We had a FP+ for the Frozen sing along and were planning to stay for the Fantasmic show.

The Frozen sing along was hilarious.  There really wasn't much of Elsa & Anna but it had 2 narrators that were so dang funny

Ella was all smiles during the show

We met Mater & Lighting McQueen after the Frozen show, the kids loved them

We headed to the seats for the Fantasmic show but quickly realized the kids were not going to make it through it. Everyone was getting cranky so we called it a night.  I was bummed because I really wanted to see this show, probably the most out of all of the nighttime fireworks but oh well, we have something to look forward to next time!

The next day was the day we were leaving, but we had an afternoon flight so we slept in (well kind of, can you really ever sleep in with a baby or small children?) and then made a yummy breakfast in our room.  We got all packed and hung around the hotel until it was time for the Magical Express to pick us up

His face pretty much summed up how we all felt about leaving :(

And that's a wrap! We had the absolutle BEST time in Disney and I'm already thinking about our next trip (which probably won't be for 2 years, but still)
