Weekly Recap + Mother's Day 2018

Last week was filled with lots of fun mixed in with a whole lot of not sleeping - which I'll get to in a minute.

First, we started the week out with celebrating Miss A's 4th birthday in her preschool class (she doesn't turn 4 until August but school is ending this week) It was SO cute to see her getting all of the attention and she didn't hate it one bit.

We went to Brayden's school at night for the 2nd grade musical "Hats" and they all did such a good job!! It's so surreal sometimes as I sit and watch these things, in some ways it feels like I was just in elementary school up there singing, definitely one of those full circle moments!

Wednesday I had arranged for my Mom to watch the girls so I could surprise Brayden with our very first skip day (I read about this from another blogger) - it was just what the dr ordered too because he had been seeming like he needed some 1 on 1 time. He was so excited! (after he was confused as to why I was there LOL) - We headed to mini golf where he totally kicked my butt then had some ice cream, well actually I had a dole whip because they actually sell them there, and then we headed to an inside arcade. It was the perfect afternoon spent with my favorite boy!!

such a boy!!

Wednesday night the girls actually went on a date with Rick to dinner - they had requested McDonald's so that's where he took them but I had to crack up because they both put on fancy dresses and wanted a little makeup on, haha!

Thursday we ran errands and that was the night that Avery woke up croup coughing around midnight. I spent pretty much half the night bringing her in the bathroom for a steamy shower then laying with her to make sure she was ok. Friday morning she seemed totally better (gotta love how croup only hits in the middle of the night!!)

Friday was spent playing outside and cleaning for Saturday and then again in the middle of the night Avery's croup came back with a vengeance so it was another looooong night of not a lot of sleep.

Saturday Brayden's baseball game was cancelled which gave us some extra time in the morning to hang out and then around noon my Mom came over and my sister/BIL/nephew shortly after. We played outside for a while then ate a super yummy meal. We had a great time hanging out and my Mom loved her gifts and she spoiled me and my sister with gifts too! When they left we visited my MIL and gave her some gifts before heading home and calling it a night.

Saturday night I thought all would be ok with Avery since she had 2 nights of croup and usually that's the max but nope, her croup cough turned into a regular cough which was keeping her up all night and at one point I went to check on her and she was sitting up in bed coughing then threw up everywhere - Rick took her blankets and started the wash while I cleaned up more throw up that landed on the floor. I realized then she also spiked a high fever so I gave her some tylenol then slept in bed with her. It was another looooooooong night.

Sunday our plans were up in the air since Avery was still not feeling so good. The kids showered me with gifts and I loved every single one. Rick picked up a yummy breakfast and after we ate Avery seemed a little better so we headed to the nursery for some flowers and veggie plants, picked up my rental car since my car is finally getting fixed this week, then headed out for mexican food because that's all I wanted. Once we got home the weather was finally starting to look nice but I couldn't do anything but lay down. After 3 nights in a row of no sleep this Mama was TIRED. I think I took an almost 2 hour nap and I still woke up exhausted! We went for a walk around the neighborhood then home for some food and ice cream and ended our night watching The Sandlot 2 at Brayden's request.

After the kids finally got to bed, the hubs and I enjoyed a glass of wine before I hit the hay. How was your weekend?

Mother's Day Gift Guide

I can't believe Mother's Day is in just 2 weeks!! We typically don't go crazy with gifts for it or Father's Day but there are some things I would love to have (as in any of the following, haha)

left to right - clockwise

ONE - A new Mama Bear tee - I love this line and already own quite a few tees/hoodies but I can always add to my collection!

TWO - The kids' birthstones on a bracelet  would be such a sweet gift!

THREE - Yes, I still live in the 90's and use CD's - so The Greatest Showman soundtrack would be so nice to have!

FOUR - New Essie polish is always wanted, especially some new fresh Spring/Summer colors!

FIVE - I've been wanting some new fun earrings and this color is so pretty! And they're a great price!!

SIX - Kind of random but I need/want a new garlic chopper and this one looks good!

SEVEN - You know I love my dark chocolate sea salt caramels!!

EIGHT - This mug belongs in my coffee cup stash!

As much as I would love any of these, my favorite Mother's Day gifts are the ones the kids make me. I cherish those so much!!

So what's on  your Mother's Day wishlist if you have one?

Weekly Recap {5.9.16}

Monday, you came too quick!! We had such a great week and an even better weekend!

Last Monday I took Ella to her first dentist visit.  I really didn't even think she would handle it any other way than fine, but boy was I wrong! She wouldn't even let the girl touch her teeth to count them, so a cleaning was for sure out of the question.  They called this visit a "chair ride" so she got to see what it's like to come and get familiar with it.  Hopefully in 6 months my girl will be ready :)

Both girls still got suckers (sugar free) and were happy when we left, ha

We did some playing outside before naps/quiet time. Avery looks so small in our yard at times

After Brayden finished his homework, we headed out to play some more! Yay for nice weather!!

Tuesday I took the girls to a garden that we were having our family pictures taken.  I had never been so I wanted to go scoop it out and get some ideas.

Tuesday night we played outside some more - I hung with the girls while the hubs and Brayden practiced baseball

Avery was funny about the sandbox - she wouldn't get in but still wanted to play so she just stood outside of it and helped dig and fill the bucket :)

Wednesday was much colder! Brayden had a half day and on half days we go pick him up and usually go do something.  This day we played at the school park then headed to BK!

We went and took our family pictures Wednesday night because it was the only day we could and I'm so bummed that the weather was terrible. I'm hoping we still got some good ones!

Thursday was super nice again (go figure the ONE day there was nasty weather was the day of our pictures)

We played outside, then ran some errands and headed to the park after.

Thursday night Brayden had a baseball game and they all played so great!!

Friday was sooooo nice so we headed to the zoo! Along with everyone and their mother :) We had such a nice time but Avery was mostly contained to the stroller because there were just too many people

This picture sums up Ella perfectly -NEVER wanting to be in the picture. If you look closely, she is crying just because I suggested it, LOL

Friday evenings view :)

Saturday morning Ella had swim lessons then it was home to pack up for Brayden's game. This one was in our neighborhoods park so I took the girls down with the wagon.

Alot of the hubby's family came to the game which was so fun! We all headed to my in laws afterwards to celebrate Mother's Day. After hanging out there for a while, we headed to my Mom's to celebrate with her and my sis/BIL/nephew. It was a fun filled Saturday and I think I was asleep by 9pm

Sunday morning the hubs picked up my favorite donuts, favorite coffee and favorite skillet from our local diner.  I was spoiled and I enjoyed it!

After breakfast the kids couldn't wait to give me their presents! Brayden picked out that beautiful blue ring and Ella picked out the necklace.  Avery picked out another necklace and they all drew and decorated cards for me. I was one happy Mama!!

We had a late start to our day but we really didn't have any major plans so it was fine by all of us.  We  first headed to a local nursery to pick up some veggies to plant.

After that we went to Home Depot which seemed like we were there forever! We bought some flowers and the hubby bought some wood for some steps he is building off our back door.

We had lunch then played outside, it was sooo nice out! (The hubby is back there weeding out my garden beds because I was too scared to go near them because for some reason there were SO many bees right there)

Avery went down for her nap and me and the bigger kids planted the veggies and then played zombies :)  We all then went and laid down for a little then we headed to the park.

We ended our night with pizza and watching Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and then it was bedtime for the kids (and me shortly after)  I had such a wonderful Mother's Day and am so grateful I get to celebrate this day.  Thanks to my hubby for helping make it so special :)
