Our Family Vaca Recap 2018

Earlier in the month we took off to celebrate our 10yr wedding anniversary! We knew all year we would make it a family affair and bring the kiddos because we just aren't ready to leave them for a long period of time.

We decided on Anna Maria Island after hearing how amazing it was from my sister in law and brother in law. After a couple months of worrying about red tide, we decided to go for it and hope for the best.

To our surprise when we arrived, the water (and weather) was perfect! I honestly do not know how we got so lucky since before we left there were still traces and after we left the hurricane brought some nasty weather

We rented a condo right on the beach, we were literally steps away. The best part of anna maria is there are no high rises, most places are not higher than 2 stories which totally keeps the old feel charm in affect. The beaches are gorgeous, white sand and so soft!

The island is small and pretty quiet/quaint with not a ton to do (which we actually loved!) but what there was to do, we did. We painted sand dollars, went fishing, we went to the aquarium a town over, we ate at the best donut place, we ate all the ice cream, and most of the food we ate was amazing!! If we weren't venturing around town, we would be lounging and playing on the beach every day! It was pure perfection!!

Traverse City, MI 2018 Recap

Well hello there friends!! I didn't intend on not blogging all last week but I just couldn't get my act together before we left for vacation. So if you're still around, today you'll get a recap of our Traverse City, MI vaca!

Every year we go on a week long vacation with Ricks family. All together there are 18 of us now, 10 adults and 8 kids. My in laws rent a big house right on the water and it's a week spent doing pretty much nothing but relaxing by the water, boating, fishing, drinking and of course eating.

We arrived on a Friday and the first night is always a little exhausting from driving (about a 5 hour drive) so we just hang out, grill and get our rooms kind of situated.

Saturday my brother in laws and sister in laws went up to Torch Lake to run a 5k but I stayed back to watch our kids while Rick and his Dad got the boat we rented all taken care of.  When they were done, we headed up to Torch Lake to meet everyone else for lunch and to see the gorgeous Torch Lake itself. The pictures don't do it justice, it is GORGEOUS!!

Sunday & Monday were lake days, meaning we weren't going anywhere. We had rented a jet ski these days as well so the kids all tubed (and poor Avery and Rick even flew off!) and had some fun rides around the lake. We had gorgeous weather which was icing on the cake!

Tuesday was the girls day - we went on a wine tour which is always so much fun!! We had the same driver as last year and had a blast with him as well. When we got home my BIL had made a full spread of mexican food for dinner and it was amazing!! We just hung out the rest of the night

Wednesday was the guys day - they had a brewery tour planned.  The girls and kids all went into town early and did some shopping then met the guys at the Filling Station (an awesome place to go eat if you're ever in the area!!) - It was also Avery's 4th birthday this day!!!

Thursday we all headed into another super cute town close by called Suttons Bay - seriously it is adorable and has pretty good shopping! Although we have to laugh because when we go in stores with all the kids I swear the workers look like they might have a heart attack LOL!

After shopping we had lunch at a super cool brewery called Hop Lots. It was the perfect setting for our large group since you sat outside at huge tables.

The rest of Thursday was spent getting our things in order, eating as much food as we can since we had to toss it the next day and hanging out.

A full week is just the right amount of time, but I sure will miss these sunsets!! I'm so lucky to have such great in-laws!!

And now it's back to reality and cram in as much fun as we can because Brayden starts school in 2 weeks, Ella in 3 and Avery in 4!!!!
