NYE 2019 Recap

Happy Monday friends! We had such a low-key weekend that was very welcomed! It was suppose to snow a ton but we only got like an inch, womp womp. We still managed to get out sledding with the kids which was fun!

Now to recap our NYE - we had such a fun night!! We decided to host at our house and had my sisters family over and 2 friends' families. We had our new ping pong table set up in the garage and brought our dartboard from the basement and had another fun game in there, it was almost like a bar set up LOL

I made a saran wrap ball game for the kiddos and we played this really fun horse racing game

We managed to all stay up to midnight and then some! the next day was so nice just laying around and watching movies - then we all got hit with the stomach bug so that was no fun - thankfully it's all gone now!

How was your NYE?

NYE {2017}

Yesterday I recapped Christmas, and today I'm talking NYE.

NYE was alot of fun this year! We usually hang out with my brother in law and sister in law and the kids, and this year 2 more couples/kids joined us! We ordered all our food from a restaurant and had it delivered to avoid anyone from having to cook and it was the best idea.

We made sure to have some games for the kids - one of them being that saran wrap game. Have you heard of it? You wrap a bunch of stuff up with saran wrap (I used candy, little blind bags, notepads, etc. It's a good time to do this because everything is on clearance at the stores! Plus I had a few items that completely didn't make their way into the kids' stockings so I threw those in the game too) - Someone starts with unwrapping the ball and the person to the right has to roll a specified number (we chose "2") as soon as they roll a 2, the ball moves to them and so on. It was a major hit and I'm bummed I have 0 pictures to show of it. We realized halfway through that the littler kids need more time since it's really hard to unwrap. Maybe next time I'll make a separate ball for the younger ones.

We played Left, Right, Center, once with the kids and once with the adults at the end of the night. That game is so, so fun!

We had a balloon drop this year and we decided to put it in the garage (our garage is like another hangout spot - there's a TV, a fridge, and Rick made sure to get it nice and toasty in there before the party) The balloon drop was somewhat of a fail because the string you pull broke, but the kids still had so much fun with it.

2 families left around 8/8:30 but our one friends stayed until midnight! I couldn't believe we made it up that late! Avery was passed out probably by 10 on the couch but I believe the others all just barely made it to midnight! We were pretty tired the next day so it was a good thing we had nothing planned but to lay around. We watched the entire new season of Fuller House and vegged out. It was pretty awesome :)

Here's to a great 2018!!

NYE 2015

This year (or last year I should say) we decided to stay in on NYE and make a bunch of finger foods and play fun games with the kids.  They were so excited and kept saying, "we're having a party tonight!" all day long.

But first, we took them to a fun NYE thing our park district does - there were bounce houses, riding toys, carnival games and the huge soccer fields were open with balls and motorized vehicles to ride around on  The kids had so much fun and at noon they did a balloon drop which sounded and looked like it would be cool but when the balloons dropped, it was pure choas! Every kid there (and their parents) all rushing into the middle to try and get balloons. I grabbed each kid a balloon and we hightailed it out of there!

Best attempt at a picture :)

Avery took a nap, the older kids played and the hubby and I got done some things around the house before our party began.

I looked up fun games to play and they were all like those minute to win it games - I chose to do 4 but we only got to 3.  Avery kind of makes it hard to do anything as you will see in the pictures :)

We have crowned Ella the official awkward picture taker :)

"kids go take a picture by the tree"

Nope, not happening

One of our games was to stack the cups the highest and keep it standing without falling - under 1 minute - and little Miss Avery just loved to come in and knock them down :)

So proud of herself for ruining the game, LOL

Another game was stack the dice in under 1 minute - Brayden won with 5 dice! (this is much harder than it looks)

We did a countdown with the kids on Netflix then put Avery to bed.  Once she was down, we all went downstairs and played WiiU - the kids are obsessed!

Around 10 Ella went to bed and I was shortly after her.  Brayden and Rick stayed playing video games and I guess Rick ended up falling asleep and woke up at 11:30 to Brayden still wide eyed playing Mario Kart 8, LOL.  He said it was time for bed and they headed upstairs, although he did say that Brayden easily could have stayed up for hours, ha ha.

It was such a fun NYE, even if we didn't make it until midnight :)

NYE 2013

This year we decided to stay home for NYE and just hang out.  The hubs went to a bowling tournament during the day and I took the kids out in the freezing cold to get party decorations, you know, for our party of 4.  Not the best idea to wait until NYE day to get NYE stuff, went to Target and the Dollar Store, and mostly everything was gone, I was able to score one hate and the rest of the stuff was meant for mardi gras, it still worked, right?

We made the kids a separate dinner then made steak and lobster for us.  It was so yummy but I barely had time to actually enjoy it since little Ella Bella was tugging at us while we ate and crying for our attention.  I said next time we do this, we eat after the kids go to bed! :)

After we ate we hung out and watched a movie and of course I made the fam snap a few shots :)

Ella is just so excited can't you tell?

Our lame party supplies, ha

We toasted to the New Year before Ella went to bed for the night, she was loving her sparkling grape juice!

We finished the night with ice cream sundaes and then it was off to bed for Brayden, and I must admit I passed out on the couch way before midnight.  It was still a fun night with my little family!! Looking forward to good things in 2014.
